Hello there! Whether you’re applying for staff, curious about the ranks, or just looking around the blog, you’ll find some useful information in this post. Let’s get right into it. There are a total of about 12 ranks across our Discord and Minecraft servers. It can seem like a lot, but it’s really not. All of the ranks go in order from Trainee to Admin on both servers, but it’s what’s in between that changes.
The Discord Ranks
The Discord staff ranks are the simplest: Trainee, Jr. Mod, Mod, and Admin, with Ticket Rep as a bit of a side role. Just like that. However, this also means it’s a bit harder to be promoted. This is balanced by the fact that you get more permissions at lower ranks. You can do most of what you’d want to do at Jr. Mod. We also need Discord staff members the most, so we might be a bit more lenient with who we accept. As a staff member on the Discord it’s your responsibility to be checking #general a lot, and generally being present in the server at most times. You will be making sure people are following the rules, helping out with any problems, and, if you so choose, helping out with tickets, and all sorts of other little tasks around the Discord.
The Minecraft Ranks
Here’s where things get a bit more complex. The ranks are: Trainee, Helper, Jr. Mod, Mod, Sr. Mod, Jr. Admin, Admin, and Developer. With 9 possible ranks, it can seem overwhelming, but here’s a quick overview of each position:
Trainee
This is the starting rank for everyone.
Your main job is to observe higher-level staff and learn how they fill their roles.
You’re encouraged to help out whenever possible.
You’ll only be here for a maximum of 3 weeks whether you get promoted or not.
Helper
The first traditional “staff” rank; your main role is to help other staff members.
You mostly play the game as usual, but also monitor players to ensure rules are followed.
You’re trusted to resolve issues within your ability and report those you can’t handle.
Jr. Mod
Similar to Helper, but with a few additional permissions.
You can issue warnings to rule breakers, following the punishment chart.
You gain more team-related permissions and teleportation abilities.
Mod
Mods receive a significant increase in permissions, but advancement becomes more challenging.
You have expanded team-related permissions, with only a few reserved for higher ranks.
You gain various inventory management permissions.
You have access to all gamemodes.
You can view chat reports and have more punishment permissions.
Sr. Mod
Sr. Mods are the highest most staff will reach, with permissions close to Admin.
You have full punishment permissions.
You gain additional anticheat permissions.
You have even more inventory management abilities.
Plus, a few more miscellaneous permissions.
Jr. Admin
Permissions from this rank onward are confidential and only visible to staff.
For the administration ranks, your focus shifts from actually playing a bit to higher level server management.
